Institute of Forests and Forestry

According to the Statute of the Faculty of Forestry of 28th December, 2011, the Institute of forests and forestry was established at the Department Forestry. Activities of the Institute of forests and forestry are to plan, initiate and implement research and development projects, propose scientific research programs and projects, and perform transfer of technologies and their implementation. Centers and laboratories are parts of the Institute of forests and forestry. The Centers at the Institute of forests and forestry are for: monitoring, data collection and processing in the field of silviculture; for monitoring, inventory and forest management planning; monitoring and conservation of forest genetic resources; for forest utilization, for the monitoring of forest health and a research center for forest fires. The laboratories within the Institute of forests and forestry are: for the research of growth and biomonitoring; hunting; for the planning and development of information systems in forestry; for the botany and anatomy of wood; for geodesy; for entomology; for plant pathology; for seed science; for micropropagation; for tissue culture and testing of seeds and seedlings. Head of the Institute for Forests and Forestry is Dr.Vladan Ivetić, associate professor.


A center for teaching and scientific facilities of the Faculty of Forestry was organized for teaching, scientific research and experimental work of students, staff and teachers. Its parts are teaching bases “Goč” and “Majdanpečka Domena”. The purpose of the teaching bases are the implementation of programs and curricula of teaching and science in undergraduate, master’s degree, specialist and doctoral studies for the needs of the faculty and other members of the University and includes: school practice, field work and production practices. In addition to teaching, the Faculty organizes scientific research and provides services in food and lodging for students within the teaching bases, during the execution of field work. The manager of the Center for teaching and scientific facilities is Dr. Milorad Danilović, full professor.
